Counterfeit Money

There will always be clever counterfeiters attempting to overcome the latest security features of a bank note, so that they can dupe you out of your profits.

The safest advice is to check banknotes with a UV lamp. It is easier to have a lamp running, than to individually use a detector pen to check every note during busy periods.

Please be aware that counterfeit detector pens can be swopped behind the bar, and could result in you obtaining false readings until the error is identified. UV lamps do not provide false reading, and they cannot be tampered with.

You should not return counterfeit money: the person who has passed you a fake note should not have a genuine reason to cause a fuss in order to retrieve it, but nevertheless, you should follow the recommendations of your local Police contact, whether that is the Licensing Officer, or by directly contacting the Police.

Being dispensed counterfeit notes from cash machines or bank clerics is a very rare occurrence, and therefore you should be dubious when this is the immediate excuse given by the person who has handed you the note.
